Christianity is a way of life. It displays the depth of your relationship with Jesus Christ. Many people claim to be Christians without a real relationship with Christ. Christianity is not like Judiasm. We are not "born" Christians. We are "born-again" Christians.
In John 3:3-5, Jesus is speaking to Nicodemus (a very religious Jewish man), "Jesus answered and said to unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. Nicodemus said unto Him, how can a man be born again when he is old? can he enter a a second time into his mother's womb and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of Spirit, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."
Trying to be a Christian without the presence of Jesus Christ inside, is like trying to be a doctor without no interest in medicine. You won't be credible. You will make a ton of mistakes. You will lead people astray. Just as a doctor must study, learn, and develop his or her practice, a Christian must do the same thing. It is said with clarity in 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God," This is very different than what most Christians think they must do.
Often people think that water baptism, church membership, giving money to good causes, serving the church, trying to do better, making resolutions to quit bad habits are the activities they must participate in in order to be called a Christian. Not so. Loving Jesus is the key. Jesus died on the cross for your salvation. Out of love and gratitude for his suffering, we want to give, we want to serve, we want to be baptized.
But more than wanting to help we all need to know what it means to be a Christian. Who is this Jesus. How can we emulate His life? How does he want to be represented? What is His relation ship with God? Who is the Holy Spirit? Diligently searching the Holy Bible and seeking the face of God through prayer will reveal these things.
Get to know Christ Better, Deeper, Richer
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever." These words are taken from Psalm 111:10.
Everyday we have a new opportunity to drink in more and more of His wisdom. Rather than buy into the hustle and bustle of everyday life, spend more time with Jesus:
1) Prayer fervently every day (Learn how to pray here),
2) Read the Bible, and
3) Share God's Love.
